The color pages at the beginning are a lovely, well done feature as we are introduced to a new (?) strange character that I find curiously endearing! I won't spoil it, but this character named Tsumugi Shiraui totally kicks butt. She (seems female, due to the armor, and cover of volume which leads me to be suspicious) even saves Izana Shinatose from a giant threat, in a rather cool way. Said giant threat shows up quite quickly, and is defeated by the joint effort of Tanikaze and Shiraui.
Tsutomu Nihei is definitely gaining popularity with this broader-range series; I am glad, and hope his previous works are also still appreciated, because they're so amazing!
Story: 4.5/5 - The story is picking up pace from a slight slow-down, and I'm glad of it!
Art: 5/5 - This volume in particularly stood out for me, emphasizing Tsutomu Nihei's simplistic, yet detailed art style that is quite pleasing to the eyes.
Characters: 5/5 - I harbor affection for all of these characters, and their quirks. Tsutomu Nihei's unfamiliar venture into more "human" characters was a brave and profitable choice!
Thank you for reading, I hope it helps! I give my honest opinion as detailed as I wish and hope to influence your chances of purchasing the subject under review, whether it is positive or negative.
