The Randolph Family
Sarah comes from a rich family in Philadelphia, but her broken heart just won't allow her to go back to be a woman of leisure. Instead, she takes a job as a nanny for a well-off engineer who has personal problems of his own. After losing her fiance, Sarah finds more hurt when the father, Clayton, refuses to even look at his three year old daughter. How can she bare to leave this poor child who needs someone to lover her - especially when she's a reminder of all Sarah had lost when she was the same age?
The author writes a beautiful story about redeeming love. Sarah slowly learns how to love again, but Clayton is so broken that she's not sure he can ever get over his hurt. Will a tragic event be just the thing he needs to see the love he has waiting for him? Or will he forever mourn his guilt over the part he played in his wife's death?
The author bravely writes about a topic that many Christian authors stay away from. I was very impressed with the way she discreetly explained Clayton's confession and wasn't at all uncomfortable. Kudos to the author on this!
I highly recommend reading the first two books in this series before reading this. They are not of the Love Inspired line, but are of the Steeple Hill single title line. The books are longer, but they are very well developed and very good. The first book, "Beauty for Ashes" covers the early days of Sarah's parents' marriage. It is very good. The second book, Joy for Mourning covers the story of Sarah's paternal aunt and her finding true love. There are six books in this series. The other books cover the children of the first two books...
Book 3: Sarah Randolph, daughter of Justin and Elizabeth Randolph from the first book
Book 4: (The Law of Miss Mary) Mary Randolph, daughter of Justin and Elizabeth Randolph from the first book
Book 5: (Prairie Courtship) Emma Allen: The daughter of Thad and Laina Allen from the second book
Book 6: (Frontier Father) Anne Sims: The daughter of Thad and Laina Allen from the second book
There are other children in the families. I think it's interesting what the children who were covered in the books have in common...

Read information about the authorMarried to her own personal hero for over fifty-eight years, mother of three, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother to a beautiful baby girl, Dorothy calls on her life’s experiences—including designing and helping her husband build their home, complete with beams they hewed by hand and a real, old-fashioned walk-in kitchen fireplace she occasionally cooks in, to add color and depth to her stories. But, while she still knows how to clean used bricks, mix mortar and swing a mean hammer, she now only designs homes for the characters in her books. An antique lover, she fills those homes (and her own) with furnishings appropriate to the time.
When she is not busy writing, Dorothy enjoys visiting with family—who live much too far away—and traveling with her husband throughout the United States doing research for future books. She values her American heritage and believes in God, love, family and happy endings, which explains why she feels so at home writing Christian historical romance.
